My whole life I’ve always had long hair. It was so long and I was very comfortable with how to style it, that it almost became a security blanket to me. This past December though, after I donated my hair, I had zero idea what to do with it. It’s been a slow process but I’m gradually getting better at styling it with a little help from some products! I may have started using these products on my short hair, but they all work great for long hair as well.
Three of these products I put on my hair while it is still wet and the last I use after I’m done blow drying it. Can you guess the order?!
After I get out of the shower I towel dry and then comb my hair. From there, I squeeze a dime sized amount of the KMS California Free Shape into my palm and rub it all over my hands like I’m putting moisturizer on. I find this helps to evenly spread the product and make it so it doesn’t get greasy. I put this on from root to tip to make sure my hair has a healthy barrier from my hair dryer and any other heat styling tools.
This product works shockingly well! I was hesitant to try it because I thought it was useless and would make my hair greasy but it doesn’t! Plus, after I first cut my hair I waited 6 months to go back again before getting a trim and my hairdresser was SHOCKED at how healthy it was. There was zero damage to my ends, which never happens after 6 months of no trim.
Next I spray the Goldwell Double Boost 4 Root Lift Spray directly into my roots to give it a little oomph. My hair is superrrr flat usually so this was a definite need for me. I’m not sure if it is the product or because my hair is shorter, but I have really been noticing a difference in the volume. By the end of the workday it still has a bit of body to it.
The last product I add to my wet hair is the Julien Farel Flexible Smoothing Balm. I put the teeniest, tiniest amount in my hands and just pat along the top surface of my hair to help combat frizz from humidity. I’ve only recently been using this for the summer, when I noticed my hair would go nuts after waiting on the hot subway platform, but it’s been working! My hair definitely looks sleeker!
Lastly, once my hair is dry I spray a little bit of my Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo into the roots. I use this as prevention against flat hair. Before I started doing this, my fine hair would sometimes look greasy and flat after wearing it down all day and constantly touching it. Now though, it still looks super clean when I leave work! If I’m going out after work I’ll sometimes spray a little more in just as a touch up if I think I really need it. Also, I use the one for dark tones so I don’t have white residue leftover in my hair.
So there you have it, my easy hair routine! Let me know if you have any questions or if you want more beauty posts like this!
